Tournament Rules and Format

These are Subject to Change at Discretion of the Tournament Director

POOL PLAY / PLAYOFFS

Each team will play all teams at their net during pool play for 3 sets.

Sets will be rally scoring to 11 points (must win by 2, cap at 15 points)

The top 4 teams (by number of sets won) will advance to the playoff round

Playoffs will be played (best 2 out of 3 sets) to 11 points [must win by 2, cap at 15 points).

- Teams will switch sides every 5 points

- Serves cannot be received with an open hand, only a forearm pass is legal

- The first ball over the net can only be played with an open hand if it is 'clean' - if the first ball over is hard driven the open hand pass does not have to be clean.

- The second contact, if a set, must be 'clean'

- Hand sets over the net must be clean and the player must be square to the net.  

- The block counts as a touch.  The player who blocked may contact the second ball.

- No open hand tips

- Working teams will be asked to keep score, referee, and line judge.

10:30 am - Team Check In

11:00 am - Pool Play Begins

2:00 pm - Playoff Bracket Begins

4:00 pm (anticipated finish)

The Day of Play

These are some of our basic ground rules....

1. We pray before we play.  Players are not required to participate in the opening prayer, but there will be one.

2. Registration for each tournament is currently open; but will close at noon on the Wednesday before the event.  No refunds or cancellations will be given after this date.

  2A) All Players must have a valid "youth" USAV membership (see home page for link to purchase membership online)

  2B) Registration fee is per team (plus processing fee)

3. Teams are accepted on a first come, first serve basis (by completed registration).  There will be a waiting list provided if all divisions/slots are full.

4. Teams do not have to provide rosters once they have registered.  Must have a minimum of three players to play.

5.  There is NO: Alcohol, Smoking, Boom boxes, Outdoor speakers, or Pets!

6.  All COVID protocols for the park must be followed at all times:

     6a) Spectators must be masked and socially distanced at all times

     6b) Players when off the court (working/refereeing/calling lines) should be masked.  While playing may choose to not be masked

      6c) Players exhibiting symptoms should not attend.  Teams can play with a minimum of 3 if a team member cannot play due to showing symptoms of COVID.
